Spray Tan Care
Not sure how to prep, care or maintain your flawless glow? Take a look at our spray tan care tips and tricks!
Pre-tan
-
Shave and exfoliate at least 4-24 hours prior to your appointment.
-
If you are getting a wax, massage, or pedicure, complete these at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. this will ensure the oils and products they used will have time to wash off your skin.
-
Come to your appointment with your skin free of all products. This includes jewelry, lotions, deodorant, makeup, oils, and perfumes.
Day of tan
-
Make sure you have followed the pre-tan care instructions.
-
Wear dark and loose clothing and sandals or slides to your appointment. Be aware that the cosmetic bronzer in the spray tan may transfer to your clothes, but it will wash out. Please no tight clothing, bras, socks, and tennis shoes! These can cause your tan to develop unevenly.
-
Plan for traffic so you can arrive on time for your appointment.
Post Tan
-
Following your spray tan, avoid any water exposure. This includes sweating, swimming, and showering before your designated rinse time. Your recommended rinse time will be provided at your appointment.
-
Avoid applying makeup, oils, lotions, deodorants, and perfume until your first shower.
-
If you have pets, do not let them lick you while your tan is developing.
-
To avoid stained palms, avoid palm-to-skin contact while your tan is developing.
-
Wait until it is time for your first shower. Do not use soap. Just a lukewarm water rinse until the water runs clear. Pat dry with a towel after, don't rub.
Maintenance
-
Take short showers and moisturize daily with a natural lotion to extend the life of your tan. Stay away from lotions that have mineral oil and high amounts of fragrance (Bath & Body Works, Victoria's Secret, Dove)
-
Take note of activities that can strip your tan: hot tubs, hot showers and baths, chlorine and salt water, saunas, and excessive sweating.
